Sunday morning while many people were relaxed with laid-back atmosphere, we had to run fast to catch the class at 8am. Why? None would skip the class as two world class Marketing experts cared to share their insights at Executive MBA Jakarta class on Sunday (22/11/2009). To be informed, Hermawan Kartajaya (MarkPlus) and Associate Professor Hooi Den Huan (Nanyang Business School) have given a significant contribution to the birth of SBM ITB, especially EMBA Program in Jakarta.

To introduce his New Wave Marketing, he clearly stated that every marketing approach would now be horizontalized. With 12Cs: communitization, confirmation, clarification, codification, co-creation, currency, communal activation, conversation, commercialization, character, caring, and collaboration, he also highlighted the word Connect where those 12Cs would be more meaningful. By using Barrack Obama: Organizing for America 2.0 and Facebook’s Platform cases, the founder of MarkPlus put his 12C into the practice. Amusements and arguments illuminated the class.

At the end of the class, Hermawan and Professor Den were impressed by the students. “I have taught in other world class business school, and the quality of the students has no different with what you have here. The class is very active and engaging while the curriculum is well arranged by covering the critical topic of marketing and also to combine it with those relevant cases,” praised the Singaporean Professor.

“So, here comes the challenge for SBM ITB. How to maintain the good standard,” Professor Den closed the conversation.***

Sementara banyak orang masih menikmati Minggu pagi dengan bersantai, kami harus berlari cepat untuk masuk kelas jam 8 pagi. Mengapa? Tidak ada yang akan melewatkan satu kelas di mana dua ahli pemasaran kelas dunia akan datang untuk berbagi wawasan di kelas MAB Eksekutif Jakarta pada hari Minggu (22/11/2009). Seperti diketahui, Hermawan Kartajaya (MarkPlus) dan Associate Professor Hooi Den Huan (Nanyang Business School) bukanlah orang baru di lingkungan SBM ITB. Kontribusi yang signifikan telah mereka berikan untuk kelahiran SBM ITB, khususnya program EMBA di Jakarta.

Dengan memperkenalkan ide New Wave Marketing, Hermawan menjelaskan bahwa saat ini seluruh pendekatan pemasaran harus menunjukkan kehorisontalan. Dengan 12Cs: communitization, confirmation, clarification, codification, co-creation, currency, communal activation, conversation, commercialization, character, caring, and collaboration, ia juga menyoroti kata lainnya yakni Connect untuk membuat 12Cs menjadi lebih sakti. Menggunakan kasus Barrack Obama: Pengorganisasian untuk Amerika 2.0 dan Facebook’s Platform, pendiri MarkPlus mendemonstrasikan 12Cs tersebut ke dalam praktiknya. Argumen diselingi gelak tawa pun mewarnai kelas Minggu.

Di akhir kelas, Hermawan dan Professor Den terkesan oleh para mahasiswa EMBA ITB. “Saya telah mengajar di banyak sekolah bisnis world class, dan kualitas mahasiswa tidak berbeda dengan mahasiswa di sini. Kelas ini sangat aktif dan menarik. Kurikulum juga telah dipersiapkan dengan baik dan telah mencakup topik kritis dalam pemasaran dengan menggunakan kasus yang relevan,” puji Profesor Singapura.

“Jadi, inilah tantangan bagi SBM ITB. Bagaimana caranya untuk dapat menjaga standar yang baik ini,” Profesor Den menutup percakapan.***
